Kunstmatige ster

Robtics | Artificial StarCollimation can also be performed visually on a star. This involves looking at the image of an in focus star and also the blurry image of an out of focus star. The degree of miscollimation can be determined based on the shape of the star image and the collimation can be adjusted accordingly. An artificial star offers the possibility to collimate on a star during the day.

This form of collimation demands more from the observer and a high degree of experience improves the results. Therefore practice makes perfect!

An additional application of an artificial star is to perform an optical test on a star during daytime. By assessing the in and out of focus star images, the degree of optical quality can be visually determined. Here too it applies that this requires the necessary experience.
