Celestron Advanced VX goto mount
De nieuwe Celestron Advanced VX montering is een goedestart om te beginnen met astrofotografie. De technologie, die gebruikt worden op de grotere monteringen van Celestron, is ook verwerkt in deze montering. Zoals permanente programmeerbare periodieke fout correctie, All Star pooluitlijning. Tevens is deze montering voorzien van nieuwe motoren, ze leveren meer kracht bij eventuele onbalans. Ook het volgen gebeurd nauwkeuriger. Het nieuwe ontwerp zorgt voor meer stijfheid in heel de montering wat de algehele prestaties ten goede komt. De knoppen om de montering op de juiste breedtegraad te zetten zijn goed te bereiken en makkelijk te verstellen. De breedtegraad is nu te verstellen tussen de 7 en 77 graden. Door het nieuwe design is het mogelijk om door de meridiaan lijn te gaan zonder de behuizing van de motoren in de weg zitten. Het statief is van 51mm dik roestvrij staal waarvan de poten in hoogte zijn te verstellen. De handcontroller NexStar+ is voorzien van meer dan 40.000 objecten.

Celestron AVX mount
Since many years I own a high-quality 102 mm refractor which I used on a very old mount which had tracking in RA but nothing else. And it was ok to use the refractor visually, but you shouldn't touch anything... I always dreamt of a light-weight mount to step up a bit. An important criterion was that it shouldn't be too big and heavy - I want all my equipment in one Zarges box, 80 x 40 x 40 cm3. I found the perfect mount with the AVX. It is probably stable enough to hold a much larger telescope - with my 102 mm refractor it is rock solid. The handbox is nice and compact, which I prefer to some of the competitors. I even started using the Goto, even though I am almost 60 years old, but it is simple and works well. Note: Do *not* buy the polar scope. At least in NL you can't really look through it, as the adjustment knob for the elevation is in the way (see the picture attached). You don't really need it anyway, as the handbox allows to align the polar axis. Summary: I am happy, and the price is reasonable too.
