Since the factory dust cover contacts the secondary housing when installed, additional clearance is needed to make room for the knobs, press the center of the cover from the inside to contour it for additional clearance. (For the LX90, the factory dust cover will fit normally with Bob's Knobs installed, without any spacers or contouring.)

Later Meade 8 inch (20 cm) telescopes have six screws on the secondary housing. The 6-screw secondary requires different knobs. Do not use knobs for the 6-screw secondary on the 3-screw secondary. The screws on these knobs are too long.

Some 8 inch (20 cm) telescopes made after 2004 have a fourth screw located on the side of the secondary housing. The surface of the 4-screw secondary is smooth, not textured like the surface of the 3-screw secondary pictured above. The 4-screw secondary requires different knobs. Do not use knobs for the 3-screw secondary on the 4-screw secondary. The screws on these knobs are too short.

Some very early Meade 8 inch (20 cm) model 2080 telescopes have two collimation screws.
