Solar Telescopes

Robtics | Solar TelescopesAstronomy is a great hobby! A disadvantage is that it always takes place at night. Fortunately there is also plenty to experience astronomically during daytime!

The sun is the closest star and therefore it is perfect for studying it in detail. Due to the brightness, special filters are needed and special solar telescopes have these filters built in, making it safe to look at the sun.

The sun can be observed in different light wavelengths and it  shows different things each time.

Viewing the sun in white light is possible with objective filters or a Herschel wedge. This makes it possible to see dark sunspots, bright filaments and granulation.

The most interesting is observing the sun in so-called H-alpha light. With special H-alpha solar telescopes, a great deal of detail can be seen on the surface of the sun and these telescopes even show the protuberances (solar flares)!

Calcium-K light is a special kind of solar observation. Visually this is unfortunately not that interesting, but all the more photographically!

The nice thing about observing or photographing the sun is that the sun is a very dynamic world. Every time you look, it is a surprise to see what there is to see. This really never gets boring!

Since many years I own a high-quality 102 mm refractor which I used on a very old mount which had tracking in RA but nothing else. And it was ok to use the refractor visually, but you shouldn't touch anything... I always dreamt of a light-weight mount to step up a bit. An important criterion was that it shouldn't be too big and heavy - I want all my equipment in one Zarges box, 80 x 40 x 40 cm3. I found the perfect mount with the AVX. It is probably stable enough to hold a much larger telescope - with my 102 mm refractor it is rock solid. The handbox is nice and compact, which I prefer to some of the competitors. I even started using the Goto, even though I am almost 60 years old, but it is simple and works well. Note: Do *not* buy the polar scope. At least in NL you can't really look through it, as the adjustment knob for the elevation is in the way (see the picture attached). You don't really need it anyway, as the handbox allows to align the polar axis. Summary: I am happy, and the price is reasonable too.

Ik begrijp niet waarom een scope als deze word beschouwd als beginners….er zijn plenty mensen die ver gevorderd zijn,die een prachtige scope als deze gebruiken.

Fijne telescoop voor astrofotografie. De finderscope leek onscherp en na contact met Robtics bleek de zoeker scherp te stellen door het voorste zwarte gedeelte te draaien en weer vast te zetten met aandrukring. Je hebt wel echt een coma corrector nodig.

Een jaar of vier geleden kocht ik deze camera bij Robtics. Er is geen betere camera denkbaar als je wilt beginnen met astrofotografie, omdat het een heel betaalbare all-rounder is. Hij blinkt uit in planeetfotografie omdat hij heerlijk snel is met z'n USB3 aansluiting. Maar ook deep-sky met langere belichtingstijden lukt prima. Hierbij zorgt zijn hoge gevoeligheid ervoor dat je ook met belichtingen van een paar seconden al goed beeld krijgt, wat handig is als je het volgen nog niet zo goed onder de knie hebt. Later kocht ik een duurdere camera voor deep-sky en werd de ASI 224 mijn volgcamera voor auto-guiding. Dit ging probleemloos, want er zit een ST4 poort op en de ST4 kabel wordt meegeleverd! Als kers op de taart krijg je er ook nog een groothoeklens bij. Dat is ideaal voor all-sky opnames, maar ook superhandig voor wie net begint, omdat je direct al beeld hebt, ook zonder telescoop.

Dit is mijn eerste telescoop. Na lang nadenken wilde ik eerst gaan voor een Bresser Messier 8inch dobson, maar die waren niet op voorraad. Deze Robsonian was echter net nieuw binnen en wel op voorraad dus toen was de keus snel gemaakt. Het geheel kwam binnen in twee grote dozen. Een voor de kijker en een voor de rockerbox. Het was allemaal makkelijk in elkaar te zetten. Heb gisteren en vannacht al even tussen de wolken door naar Mars kunnen kijken. Kreeg hem eerst niet scherp met de 9mm occulair, maar dat bleek te komen omdat ik de verlenger in de focusser had laten zitten. Deze is nodig voor de 30mm occulair, maar dus niet voor de 9mm. Alweer veel geleerd :) Hier ga ik zeker een hoop plezier van hebben. Had verder alles lekker snel binnen en goed advies gehad van Menno. Bedankt!

Een aantal weken geleden bij robtics een celestron CGE Pro 2e hands gekocht. Een droom statief, zwaar en groot. Keurig geholpen, zeker in de tijden van covid. Helaas na 2 weken begaf de montering het, na telefonisch contact en mail wisseling heb ik hem weer teruggebracht. Er werd duidelijk en relaxed gereageerd door Rob en Menno, afgesproken dat ze hem gingen repareren, hier konden ze immers ook niks aan doen. Daarna wekelijks contact gehad met hoe het ervoor staat . Na 3 weken hebben ze een andere montering gehad en hiermee de mijne weer heel gemaakt. Kortom een super service, heel veel expertise en meer dan 100 punten waard! Rob en Menno nogmaals bedankt voor de uitstekende service!!!!
