The compact but very powerful Sky-Watcher Starquest DX127MC Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope, with its 127mm aperture, is ideal for the observation of double-stars, and the surface detail of the Moon and bright planets. The Maksutov-Cassegrain is a catadioptric design that uses mirrors and a front corrector lens that effectively folds a long focal length into a Telescope tube of compact dimensions. Its high-resolution, long focal length optical system is multi-coated to maximise contrast and image sharpness and packs a powerful punch!

The new generation Sky-Watcher Starquest DX Mount is a well-engineered equatorial Mount that is lightweight and easy to manage, suited to both beginners and experienced observers alike. The Mount, when polar aligned, allows you to easily track objects as they move across the night sky with its smoothly operated slow motion control cables. The Mount has a generous payload capacity of 5kg and the fully adjustable stainless steel tripod offers excellent stability. The Mount features 360º gearing on both the right ascension and declination axes. An optional D.C. Motor Drive (code SW_20940) can be installed to the R.A. axis for auto-tracking purposes. Sky-Watcher Deluxe Mirror Coatings
Most reflectors today usually have a coat of aluminium as the mirror surface and then an overcoat of silicon monoxide or silicon dioxide to protect it. Silicon dioxide produces a much more durable coat than silicon monoxide but requires specialized equipment to apply it and is therefore more expensive. Protection is needed, because in most reflectors, the mirror is open to the elements and deterioration of the reflective layer reduces the resolution of the Telescope. ALL Sky-Watcher reflectors are Multi-Coated with Silicon Dioxide as standard for Optimum Durability and Long Term Performance.
