Filters

Astronomical filters come in many different shapes, sizes and flavors. Visual filters are used to help visual observation. Examples include a moon filter to dim the bright moonlight or a light pollution filter to reduce the terrible effects of light pollution. Photographic filters are used to enhance photographic results. Examples of this are narrowband filters to photograph in, for example, H-alpha light or RGB filters to do color imaging with a black-and-white camera!

Photographic and visual filters can make a huge difference!

If a filter is indicated for visual use, it can often also be used for photography. The indication 'Filter application' is therefore only indicative.
