Astro-Physics RAPAS Right-Angle Polar Alignment Scope with LED Illuminator - 1100GTO, 1600GTO, Mach1GTO and all 900 and 1200 Mounts
This revolutionary design was enthusiastically received at the Northeast Imaging Conference (NEAIC) and the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) in April 2012. The reticle has since been updated for use in the Southern Hemisphere and includes finer gradations in response to suggestions from conference participants. See a larger image of the reticle.
Advantages of the Right-Angle Polar Alignment Scope:
Right-angle viewing eliminates neck strain during polar alignment.
Reticle suitiable for Northern and Southern Hemispheres through 2040.
Precise adjustments are made without rotating the Polar Alignment Scope or the Right Ascension axis.
Polar Align in light polluted areas (only Polaris needs to be seen)
Battery-powered Illuminator with adjustable brightness control.
Optical Specs:
Objective lens: 200mm FL, 25mm diameter
Eyepiece: 22mm Widefield Orthoscopic, focusing ocular
Field of view: 6 degrees
Right-angle prism diagonal

Although originally designed for the new 1600GTO and 1100GTO, we also offer adapters for the Mach1GTO and all 900 and 1200 mounts (except the original 1200 black version) . See these adapters below. These adapters are required for attaching your RAPAS and can be purchased for each of your Astro-Physics mounts, allowing the polar alignment scope to be switched between mounts. Please note that the larger aperture of this polar alignment scope can not be adapted to the smaller shaft diameters of the 400 and 600 mounts.
